About Us
Make A Difference Sri Lanka Ltd. (MDSL) is a UK registered charity created in the year of 2011, run by a group of dedicated and committed Sri-Lankan-UK-nationals joined hands as volunteers to support the most vulnerable in the north and east of Sri Lanka.
Our past work
Make a Difference Sri Lanka has supported various educational projects across a wide age spectrum, including catch-up-education, diplomas, zero budget farming courses, supporting A/L students to prepare them for their examination and more, all aimed at providing Primary Level Development (PLD) to vulnerable people.
We have supported numerous projects with individuals and families to establish small businesses and small industries. We constructed mud houses, and toilets which also served as training opportunities for the local youth.
We supported the young and old through educational, farming, fishing, agricultural and many more livelihood projects advancing the communities in the regions to Secondary Level Development (SLD).
Supporting the young and vulnerable with education is imperative, as it is their birthright.
Our current work
Following PLD and SLD, now we are in the phase of Tertiary Level Development (TLD) focusing on creating a farm, Vilippu Koottu Pannai (VKP) in Paranthan, Kilinochchi. This is our Mega-project aiming not only to create jobs, trainings and apprenticeships amongst the vulnerable but also to generate incomes for our further developments. We have seen almost 75% of our TLD work completed.
We are currently supporting 34 A/L students in the Eastern Province for their 2024 and 2025 University entrance public examination. This cohort will receive support until their exams in January 2025/2026.
This mega-project aims to create jobs, provide training and apprenticeships among the young and the old. We also generate income to lead and support our Continuous Development (CD).

Our vision and future goals
At MDSL, we aim to create long-term, self-sustaining development by helping these communities rise and live dignified lives. We have successfully sailed through our Primary Level Development, Secondary Level Development and progressing through our Tertiary Level Development.
Our vision includes an expansion of our farm Vilippu Koottu Pannai, VKP 1 into VKP2, VKP3, and VKP4, spreading from the north to the east, west and beyond. Through Continous Development (CD) we want to create more job opportunities, trainings, apprenticeships and seed various industries, benefiting the regions even further.
CD is designed in a way that we experience an exponential growth which will support many more projects bracing many more people in need.
